Now that January is behind us, it’s the perfect time to start looking forward to the Spring. The spring months are one my favourite times of the year. I love watching nature awaken and seeing the first shoots appear. It’s great to see the sunshine again and when we have the time, it’s nice to go for a long walk in the crisp spring air.
In the early months of the year, I like to get started on the big spring clean. Deep cleaning the house from top to bottom in anticipation of the warmer months is essential. So is packing the excess of my winter wardrobe away ready for warmer weather. (I can try and be optimistic!) As a family, we have so much stuff I’m attempting to be more organised with storage this year!
I also yearn to do some redecorating but I don’t have the time just now. I do need to do something to give my home a bit of cheer, so I’ve been looking for ways to brighten up my home quickly, and on a minimal budget. Here are my favourites so far:
Bring spring inside
Bring spring inside and embrace your green fingers. Flowers and plants bring light and air into a room. Dingy corners can benefit from suitable plants. Plants can breathe life into a room. The experts at Country Lane Flowers say seasonal flowers can make stunning displays and keep you in touch with nature.
Brighten up with Accessories
Mixing up your accessories and changing a few colours around is the easiest way to give your home a fresh look. Try different cushions, curtains and throws to lighten up your room. Changing around your room layout and even moving pictures and photos can make it feel like new! Some of my all time favourites are on a post I wrote a while ago about my homewares wishlist. You can read that here.
Give your Bathroom a Lift
Simply by replacing the shower curtain and maybe a few accessories like a bath mat or towels can dramatically boost your smallest room. Be as funky or luxurious as you choose and turn your bathroom into your exclusive personal oasis.
Clear the Clutter
A good spring clean will instantly make you feel better and lighten things up. Get rid of all those things you have meant to; take them to charity shops or the tip. Get all the family involved to help, even young children can help with some basic chores.
Brush your path and porchways and give your front door a wash. You’ll be surprised how much rubbish can accumulate in the garden over the winter period. The front of your home is the first thing visitors see so make sure you are making a good impression. A funky welcome mat can cheer up even the darkest of doorways!
