Mike and Ike Retro Flavors {{Limited Edition}}

Mike and Ike Candy Logo

We have movie night once a week and we almost always have popcorn and candy. Typically I take the kids to choose their candy, I can almost guarantee that at least two of my three kids will snag up a box of Mike and Ike candy. They have been a long time favorite of ours, for pretty much as long as I can remember.  So whenever I heard that Mike and Ike would be rereleasing some retro flavors I was SUPER excited.

Mike and Ike has rereleased Cherri and Bubb and Lem and Mel for a very limited time. These two retro flavors will only be available until April 2013. You might remember these yummy favors from whenever they first hit the candy shelves, and became an instant hit back in 1989 (Cherri and Bubb) and 1991 (Lem and Mel). Just like the traditional Mike and Ike candies they are bursting with a mix of delicious flavors. Lem and Mel is a blend of lemon and watermelon, and Cherri and Bubb is cherry and bubble gum flavored. Personally I like Lem and Mel the very best, especially those delicious little watermelon candies. The kids however like Cherri and Bubb the very best, they really like the bubble gum pieces (which is exactly what I thought they would like best).

Since these are very limited edition, be sure to swing into your local store and pick up a box or two of your own. They retail for 1.00-$1.39 just like the original Mike and Ikes that we love so much! Be sure to hurry though because like I said before they are only available until April, and you do not want to have to wait another 20 years for these to be rereleased again!

Mike and Ike Split up

I would also like to briefly talk about Mike and Ike, because last spring I started noticing that Ikes name was scratched off the boxes. Initially I thought that some kids came in the store and scratched the name off of the packaging. After some further investigation (thanks to my kids bugging me like mad about it) I learn that Mike and Ike split up to pursue their own true passions. It turns out Mike is into music and has already made a music video, and Ike is an artist! If you are like me and are curious about what Mike and Ike are up to, be sure to check out their blog (there is also a ton of fun stuff on there as well).

Don’t forget to LIKE Mike and Ike on Facebook to read about all of their delicious news!

    I haven’t had Mike & Ikes in a long time… and I love the split-up story. But I’m glad they are each pursuing their passions. :)

    Those are some very interesting flavors. I’m not a huge lemon fan, but I love watermelon stuff, so I think I’d like Lem and Mel the best.

    I kept wondering why Mike and Ike were crossed out on boxes I saw in stores!

    Oooh I think I would love the lemon watermelon flavor. Not to big on bubblegum flavored candy though.
