I have learned something about myself recently, I need to be held accountable in order to stick with things. In other words I am a quitter. Im trying very hard to eat better along with feeding my children better. Which isn’t necessarily difficult, its just that my kids have acquired a taste for crap. I pack their lunches for school, so theres no reason that they can’t eat healthy. Thats my goal to pack more healthy lunches, and not just throw cheetos and PB&J’s into baggies, but to actually look at what I am putting in their lunches.
So at the end of every week I am going to post pictures of what I sent with my kids for lunch that week. Typically you will only see a picture of one bento box, because I pack Chandler and Jayde exactly the same thing, and because Ethan gets the exact same thing as Chandler and Jayde just in baggies (because baggies are so much cooler than bento boxes). So if you see something that I should/shouldnt be adding let me know Im always open for ideas! Also I am aware that everything I put in their lunch isn’t always perfectly healthy, but its better than I was doing before, and Im learning.
Tuesday: (The kids first day of this school year) Turkey and cheese butterfly sandwich, kiwi, strawberries, snoopy snacks and a starburst.
Wednesday: Salami and cheese wraps, strawberries, and a Teddy Grahams oatmeal raisin paw. (Turns out the paw is tiny and I should have packed more food in this one.)
Thursday: (sorry this one is blurry) Red homemade macaroni and cheese with extra cheese, chicken tenders (barbecue sauce in the little bin), pretzel and cheese goldfish and a funfetti cupcake with icing in the middle like a sandwich (I get away with using less this way and it isnt as messy this way).
Friday: Half of a turkey and cheese sandwich (no crust though, because crusts are “yucky”) kiwi, sweet pickles, cheddar cheese rice cakes, and sour nuggets real fruit snacks.
So that was what they had for lunch this week. Check back next Friday for more of our lunches.
