I pack bento style lunches for two of my three kids as well as for my husband. I love that I can pack lunches the night before and they will still be fresh the next day. I also love that I can send cute lunches for the kids. Most importantly though,I love that I save a TON of money on lunch baggies!
That being said my biggest battle is finding a bento style lunch box that would work for everyone and hold up. After much trial and error with many many bento style boxes I finally settled with a three sectioned box. It worked, so that I could make uniform lunches easily for everyone. However whenever I washed it, it quickly became “dingy” even though the packaging stated that it was reusable.
So when I heard about Rubbermaid’s newest line of food storage containers LunchBlox, I was super excited! So much that I couldnt wait for my package to come to try them out. In all we tried out two LunchBlox entree kit, and one LunchBlox Sandwich kit. I immediately used the Sandwich kit to pack my husbands lun
ch for that day. I could instantly note a change in the quality of plastic these were made of versus what I was using before. Unfortunately after I sent him to work with this lunch I realized that part of his lunch needed to be warmed in the microwave, and that sent me in a swirl of panic because the microwave at his work seems to warp/burn typical “tupperware”. I was pleased whenever he came home because the boxes were untouched (survived the microwave)!
Some of its features include:
Modular containers snap together in to save space in your lunch bag
Kit includes specially designed Blue IceTM pack that works with LunchBlox containers to keep
lunches chilled on the go
Containers are perfectly portioned for lunch foods commonly carried away from home
Microwave-, dishwasher- and freezer-safe and BPA-free
The Sandwich Kit includes a sandwich container sized for regular and specialty breads, two snack
containers (perfect for yogurt or nuts) and a snack container (perfect for fruits, vegetables and chips)
They even made a really great lunch box to go with this set, however I tried it the LunchBlox’s out with my husbands/kids normal lunch boxes and they fit just perfectly.
With the LunchBlox costing only around $12.99 (suggested retail cost) its an absolute steal! I will be replacing all of my old “dingy” bento lunch boxes with Rubbermaid’s LunchBlox very very soon! Also if you are wanting to switch over to bento style lunches I highly reccomend these boxes as well as checking out this post to get some non sandwich ideas!
Disclaimer: I received one of products mentioned above. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Pinky Promise!!
