Fighting the urges

I have spent a decent amount of time dieting on and off over the past 8 or so years. Safely I can say I have spent equally as much time {if not more} dodging dieting all together. Any time that I have actually stuck with a diet, its always fallen apart just under two weeks. Either I started sprinkling snacks in here and there or I just gave up all together. Thats about where I am at with my dieting now, almost two weeks in. Its do or die time.

Im proud to say I haven’t cheated once, or considered giving up. I even made it through a trip to two grocery stores, past all that great candy, cookies, and potato chips. I resisted them all. Even when I saw that Snicker has a new Girl Scout cookie flavored bar, I kept moving. Even though I really wanted one, I remembered how that pizza I ate on friday made me feel. Totally not worth it. So since I don’t have the snacks that I used to love to eat, Im finding myself looking for more foods that I enjoy snacking on. Ive found that I love steamed edamame beans. If you have never tried them I highly recommend them, especially cooked with sea salt they are delicious. I actually even grabbed a bag of these dry roasted edamame for light snacking. I haven’t tried them yet, but Im hoping they are half as good as the steamed beans. Fingers crossed.

In related new I have decided to join Mamavation’s Virtual 5K on June 30th. However I will be walking it, as I am still a bigger girl and I don’t think my ankles would appreciate it too much if I ran. This is going to be a huge challenge for me, not only because of the distance, but because John will be out of town during this time and he’s my walking buddy. Heck to be honest he’s my biggest motivation. If I can just make it through that week and stay on track I will be doing really good.  Take a moment to join me on the virtual 5k, I could use the support.
